I’m running the Jerusalem Half Marathon for Team Shalva in April because, now more than ever, Israel needs strength, resilience, and unity. With the backdrop of ongoing conflict in Israel, this race has taken on an even deeper meaning for me. The marathon is no longer just about personal achievement or fitness; it’s a powerful statement of solidarity and support. It’s about standing alongside the people of Israel and showing that, despite the hardships and uncertainty, there is still hope, compassion, and commitment to building a better, more inclusive society.

Shalva is an organization that embodies this spirit of unity and resilience. For decades, Shalva has provided life-changing services to individuals with disabilities and their families across Israel, offering a safe haven and a path to opportunity even in challenging times. The work they do is crucial, and in times of crisis, their mission becomes even more vital. These children and families deserve stability, joy, and the chance to thrive, no matter what’s happening around them. By running for Shalva, I am raising funds to support their essential programs that provide education, therapy, recreational activities, and vocational training—all resources that empower individuals with disabilities to live full and meaningful lives.

Running through the streets of Jerusalem, a city that carries so much history, struggle, and resilience, I am reminded of the importance of each step. This marathon is about more than endurance or personal accomplishment; it’s about standing together for a cause that brings hope amidst hardship. Every mile I cover is a mile dedicated to the resilience of people facing incredible challenges. And every donation I receive is a testament to the belief that we can make a difference, even in small ways, by supporting a community that needs our compassion and assistance more than ever. 

With the current situation in Israel, I know that running this marathon might feel different, even daunting. But that’s exactly why I’m doing it—to prove that even in the face of fear and uncertainty, we can come together for a cause rooted in love and solidarity. Shalva’s work reminds me that every individual, regardless of ability or circumstance, has the right to live with dignity, to feel valued, and to experience joy. Running for Team Shalva means I’m joining an extraordinary group of people dedicated to lifting others up.

As I prepare for this race, I carry with me the hope of a brighter future for Israel and its communities, especially those most vulnerable during these difficult times. My goal is not just to finish this race but to contribute to a meaningful cause that shines a light in dark times. I invite you to join me in this journey.
